A Marine Corps veteran in Charlotte, North Carolina, is so thankful for the help given to him by his service dog that he’s doing all he can to help other vets get a boost from their own service dog.
When Richard Brewer came home he had a tough time readjusting to life and suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder. His dog, Anka, gave him a reason to live and helped him return to a leading a productive life.
Richard then founded One Warrior One, an organization that takes shelter dogs and puts them into a service dog program – and then pairs them with veterans.
One of those vets, Scott Alexander, says of his dog, Delta, “She’s changed my life. For the past years, I haven’t really left the house much. She’s come and rescued me is how I look at it.”
