Little Girl Paints Hundreds Of Rocks To Spread Love and Good Luck

When six-year-old Ayel Morgenstern heard about the vandalized tombstones at a Jewish cemetery in St. Louis in February, she wanted to do something to spread kindness in the world. So as a mitzvah – a Hebrew word meaning “good deed” – she decided to paint rocks for the families affected.

The little girl has painted ladybugs for good luck and hearts for more love because she “wants to make the whole world feel better.” She’s painted over 500 of them in the last six weeks, and thanks to social media, her mom was able to contact the families of the cemetery vandalism and sent Ayel’s rocks to them in Philadelphia, Rochester, and St. Louis.

She’s also sent them to others who’ve lost a loved one, like the family of Kurt Cochran, who lost his life in the recent London terror attack, and Sacred Heart University, where a college student recently died after choking in a pancake eating contest. To this little girl, it’s pretty simple. “Kindness matters,” Ayel says. “It is inspirational, it is powerful, and you should live like that.” And right she is!
