Unfortunately, Hurricane Harvey has given a nasty reminder that public transportation wouldn’t be a bad thing. The problem is as many as 94-percent of residents rely solely on their car, so with as many as one million destroyed by Harvey… “Houston, we have a problem.” And forget about renting one; they are all reserved.
What’s your last choice there besides walking? Uber or Lyft. Yes, Houston has a bus system, but it is limited in the massive city.
One resident, Kenneth Hurst, puts it in perspective. “This is not New York. This is not DC. This is not one of those major metropolitan cities with public transportation that you could get around the clock.”
