Female Brains Are More Active Than Males!

The leader of the largest functional brain imaging survey ever conducted says the findings are important to understand the different risks men and women face from brain disorders such as Alzheimer’s. Women have higher rates of Alzheimer’s disease and depression.

High tech imaging equipment like a SPECT was used to see the activity and it was vastly different.

The study shows more activity for women in the parts of the brain that control focus, motivation, and behavior. Men’s brains are shown to be more active in regions affecting vision and coordination. The study is reported in yesterday’s edition of the “Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease.”
