The big problem with the “college or work” dilemma is money. Some 44-million college grads are paying enormous student loan debt, with little to show in job prospects. Margot Bisnow is the author of “Raising an Entrepreneur,” and she has advice for parents of college-bound students.
She says identifying a passion could help zero-in on a career that does not include higher education. Even if a young person’s career path could benefit from time at a university, a high-priced college might not be the ticket.
Bisnow says students graduating from college often pay an average of 350-dollars a month on their student loans. The cost makes their post-collegiate life expensive, and it can lead to depression or even suicide. She advises parents to get involved with their kids’ career plans while they’re still in high school.
