The world’s most famous clock is going silent for four years of renovations. The 160-year-old landmark will be dismantled so that all of its gears can be cleaned, repaired and checked for cracks.
Though the clock has gone silent for repairs in the past, this will be the longest outage in its history.
The gongs will still sound for special occasions such as Remembrance Day and New Year’s Day.
