American Smoking Rates Are At Record Lows!

The number of Americans who smoke cigarettes has reached the lowest level ever recorded. The Centers for Disease Control reports just under 14 percent of Americans smoked in 2017. In cities, the rate was 11 percent.

It’s twice that in rural areas. Fifty years ago more than 40 percent of Americans were smokers.

The rate had been steady for two years and has begun to drop again. There are still more than 30 million Americans smoking. Teens are steering towards vaping instead.
